Abstract:

The Hydrographic Sciences Group of the Naval Postgraduate Schools Department of Oceanography has a goal to establish and continue a research base related to the Global Positioning System GPS. To meet this goal a library of programs capable of reducing GPS satellite data to position and time solutions, independent of the receivers navigation solution, is being acquired. This thesis describes the modification, documentation, and establishment of Texas Instruments 4100 GEOSTAR GPS software written by the Naval Surface Weapons Center for their CDC Cyber 865 computer, so that it will run on the IBM 3033 computer at NPS. Position and time solutions for either a static or dynamic receiver can be achieved using this software.
