Artificial Intelligence: A 'User Friendly Introduction
Abstract:
The Electronic Security Command ESC like other government agencies is studying the potential applications of artificial intelligence. Its initial look at AI research indicated that it should first pursue an in-depth review of the state of AI development. As part of that study ESC tasked its Command - sponsored Research Fellow at Air University for 1984-85, Col Pat O. Clifton, to prepare an introductory handbook on AI. Artificial intelligence has become a popular buzzwork among those working with computer support systems. It is a complex subject offering potential capabilities that are not clearly understood. What this study provides is an introduction to artificial intelligence for senior civilian and military leaders. It should help clear away some of the promotional hype that clouds what AI really can and cant do. This project was completed in coordination with Air Universitys new Center for Aerospace Doctrine, Research, and Education CADRE. KR
