Abstract:

This concept of operations is one of a set that in total will describe the operation of the National Airspace System NAS when the projected upgrades are completed. The Direct User Access Terminal DUAT is a Federal Aviation Administration FAA program that will enable pilots to obtain self- briefings and submit flight plans, much as they receive these services from Flight Service Stations FSSs and Automated FSSs AFSSs today however, DUAT will be provided by the private sector. This document describes DUAT Service capabilities and interactions between the user, the DUAT Service, and NAS subsystems. It is intended to provide a common perspective for personnel engaged in DUAT-related activities.
