CSAR (Combat, Search and Rescue) Aide: Design Requirements for a Combat Search and Rescue Decision Support System for Joint Rescue Coordination Centers
Abstract:
This thesis is an application of a methodology being researched at AFIT to define requirements for decision aids. The specific application of interest is Combat Search and Rescue Command and Control at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center. It covers the current status of information management and control in the JRCC and recommends the development of an integrated decision support system. DSS. Such a system should be designed to aggregate information, provide the user with modeling and what if capability, and present data and model results in a manner which facilitates the decision making process. An adaptive design methodology was used to capture requirements and ensure the design suggested meets JRCC needs. Modifications to the methodology are suggested. The result of this effort may be used as the cornerstone for a Statement Of Need for an automated Decision Support System to aid decision makers in the JRCC. Keywords Search and rescue, Decision support system, Command and control systems. Theses.
