A Retrospective on Communicating Sequential Processes.
Abstract:
In 1978, C.A.R. Hoare published a draft of a programming language called Communicating Sequential Processes CSP. Ten years later, we can see that this paper had a profound impact on our perception of parallel computation. This paper examines the evolution of CSP over the last 10 years, in order to understand its effect on our current perceptions of parallel and disturbed computation. Keywords include Distributed processing, Computers, Software, Communicating Sequential Processes CSP, and Multiprocess programs.
