Abstract:

Report reviews and analyzes the historical and political factors which caused the United States to take military action against Muammar Qadhafis terrorist infrastructure inside Libya. Details how American military power was employed during El Dorado Canyon. Analyzes the short and long term consequences of the operation, and judges its effectiveness in deterring Libyan state sponsored terrorism. Recommends what U.S. policy should be regarding the continued use of direct military action to deter state sponsored terrorism.
