Abstract:

Technology was a key element in determining the outcome of the Battle of Britain. The British developed and deployed new technology in areas such as radar and command and control that provided them with a significant edge in battle. The study evaluates the impact technology had on this battle and assesses the applicability of lessons learned in this area to the development of todays air command control system in the NATO theater. The concepts of foresight and planning used during the Battle of Britain are compared to the steps currently ACCS. The study concludes that these concepts are still valid today and are being thoughtfully applied in the NATO ACCS.
