Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Communications Program: Non-Ionizing Electromagnetic Radiation Literature Evaluation and Assessment, 1986-1987 Literature Review.

This report deals with the evaluation and assessment of literature concerned with the bioeffects of Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Radiation. The report covers the period from November 1986 to October 1987. The objective of this program is to conduct a thorough and comprehensive review and evaluation, of the published professional literature containing scientific information pertaining to biological effects, including but not limited to human health effects of nonionizing electromagnetic radiation, germane to the Extremely Low Frequency ELF Communication Program of the United States Navy. The published professional literature reviewed, evaluated and assessed includes books, research reports, and articles and papers in peer-reviewed journals that discuss andor describe biological and health effects of nonionizing electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range of 1-300 Hz. In some instances documents discussing effects of frequencies above 300 Hz were also reviewed. The review and evaluation included both domestic and international literature published in English or other foreign languages.
