Thesis traces the US decision that West Germany should be rearmed after World War II the French struggle to accept that idea the West German Governments attempts to trade soldiers for Sovereignty and the path taken to convince the West German populace to accept new military forces. Covers the time frame from the end of WW II through 1955-1960.
