Abstract:

A brief mention of the history of United States clergy ministering to members of the armed forces is followed by a description of the Chaplain Candidate Program and its designated goals. Historical development places the present program within a context so that a review of its strengths and weaknesses may be discussed. The breadth of the program brings with it specific concerns. The strength of the program is noted, and its impact upon the Air Force chaplaincy is in the review of participant evaluations and concerns. Vigorous management of the program and a specific focus are concluded to contribute to the success of this endeavor.
