TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) Verification.
Abstract:
The Terminal Aerodrome Forecast Verification TAFVER system gives AWS a means to monitor its performance in a cost-effective manner. This technical note will provide AWS personnel with the necessary information to effectively use the TAFVER system. The TAFVER system will perform the following tasks a Retrieve decoded and validated observations and store selected elements in the TAFVER database b Retrieve decoded TAFs and store them in the TAFVER database c Send TAFVER receipt messages AX bulletins for observations and TAFs twice a day d Prepare end-of-month summary reports of forecast verification for Headquarters Air Weather Service and for each wing. The TAFVER database includes a TAF section, an observations section, and an information section. The TAF section can contain up to 31 days of TAFs per station. The observations section can contain up to 32 days of observations per station. Stored TAFs and observations contain ceiling and visibility information. Only hourly observations are stored special observations and TAF amendments are not stored.
