Abstract:

The Research Objectives were 1 To use Adcocks modified activity sampling methodology to detect the role behavior of practicing governmentmilitary managers -- a To verify that governmentmilitary managers do act in all eleven Mintzbergs ten and Adcocks subordinate role and to estimate the proportion of time spent in each role and thus verify that Adcocks methodology detects all eleven roles and b To determine the contribution of four organization variables examined by Adcock to the variability in how the governmentmilitary managers distribute their time in roles. 2 To detect differences between private Adcocks sample and governmentmilitary managers regarding their role behavior 3 To determine the contribution of selected organization variables, person variables, and combined effects to the total variability in how governmentmilitary managers distribute their time in roles.
