Oxalate Ester Chemiluminescence, Improved Low Temperature Formulations.

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA157899 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The objective of the program was to develop and test new chemiluminescent formulations which were usable at lower temperatures than the systems currently in use. The visibility requirements included a minimum visual range of 10 meters for 30 minutes at -25 degrees F or lower. The oxalate ester-hydrogen peroxide chemiluminescent system was used. A series of new formulations were developed which offer reduced temperature sensitivity in a variety of colors. The formulations were tested at Ft. Greely, Alaska, where the program objectives were met and exceeded.
