Abstract:

The RFQ system has been especially effective in providing the practical means of approaching the space propagation criteria of high current level, low injection energy, adequate reliability, efficiency, and moderate size. Another method of simultaneous acceleration and focusing of ions under Soviet development has been the alternating phase focusing APF system, which has recently achieved a successful feasibility proof.
