A Simple Electronic Apparatus for Determining the Oxidation Stability of Lubricants and Other Organic Compounds.

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA146080 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The oxidation breakdown of lubricating oils and other organic compounds is often accompanied by the liberation of vapor phase oxidation products. A simple apparatus which uses a semiconducting tin oxide gas sensor has been employed to monitor the evolution of these products. The method permits complete automation of the oxidation stability testing procedure and an unambiguous indication of the relative oxidation stability of the compounds studied.
