Erosion Mechanisms of Metals.
Abstract:
This final report summarizes the experimental approach was to initially study a single alloy which exhibits a transition from brittle to ductile type erosion response at room temperature. At a later stage, the dynamic hardness of several substrate materials, both pure metals and alloys, was measured in order to provide a material property obtained under dynamic conditions similar to those during an actual erosion event. The results can be conveniently separated into two phases as follows Erosion Material Removal Mechanisms, and Correlation Between Dynamic Hardness and Erosion.
