Abstract:

The dam is approximately 1,650 feet in length. It consists of both natural earth formations and an earth embankment with mortar faced rubble core walls. The dam has a maximum height of 28 feet above the original streambed. The top width is 10 feet with a maximum downstream slope of 2 horizontal to 1 vertical. There exists only one operable outlet other than the spillway. Single family homes exist at the top of the dam, on the downstream side, for approximately 75 of its length. The spillway is a broad crested concrete weir, 35.5 feet long, having masonry rubble training and side walls. The area immediately below the dam and spillway is heavily developed with single family dwellings. Based upon the visual inspection at the site and past performance of the dam, the dam is judged to be in good condition. No evidence was observed of structural instability in the embankment and the condition of the earth embankment is generally good. There are some areas which require attention. Based upon our hydraulic computations, the spillway capacity is 560 cubic feet per second, which is equivalent to approximately 18 percent of the Test Flood.
