Abstract:

The purpose of this development program is to design a family of fail-safe fuses 2-30A, 28VDC, 115230V-400 Hz for applications in aircraft electrical systems solid state power controllers SSPCs. The SSPC functions as a circuit interrupter and a load controller, and when operating properly should protect the aircraft wiring between itself and the load. However, if the SSPC fails to open during a short or overload condition, excessive current can flow, resulting in serious damage to aircraft wiring.
