reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA139938 | Open PDF

Abstract:

A joint-service effort is underway to develop a computerized adaptive testing CAT system and to evaluate its potential for replacing the paper-and- pencil Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery, used for military personnel classification and assignment. To enable evaluation of CATs operations, psychometric characteristics, and predictive utility, a prototype system was developed for use in assessing the feasibility of CAT with Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy recruits. This report provides a user manual describing the experimental CAT system hardware and procedures for administering personnel classification tests on the system.
