Boundary Conditions and Operationalizations of Expectancy Theory Variables
Abstract:
Expectancy Theory measures were applied in a classroom setting for predicting test performance in order to compare amplitude and highest probability measures of expectancies and instrumentalities. In addition, an individual difference boundary condition reflecting the degree to which subjects realistically estimated their effort-performance expectancies was investigated. The results showed some support for the expanded expectancy model. In addition, the model was most predictive for subjects who underestimated their effort- performance expectancies. This report is third in a 1975-1976 series entitled Sources and Effects of Accurate Work Perceptions.
