Abstract:

The Integrated Library System ILS is a minicomputer-based system in which all automated library functions are processed against a single master bibliographic file. This report describes the functions which the system supports and outlines the system design from a technical viewpoint. ILS consists of five major subsystems -Bibliographic control to load and edit MARC-format records, -Catalog access an online public catalog, -Circulation to track item location and status, -Serials control to check in serial issues, and -Administrative to produce management reports and set system parameters. The ILS software will run on any of three types of minicomputer equipment Data General Eclipse series, Digital Equipment Corporation DEC, PDP-11 series 1123 to 1170, or IBM series 1. Author
