An Approach to Expert Systems for Mechanical Design.

Abstract:

We present an approach to expert systems for mechanical design called Design Refinement, which addresses a subset of design activity by using a hierarchy of conceptual specialists that solve the design problem in a disturbed manner, top-down, choosing from sets of design plans and refining the design at each level of the hierarchy.
