A Quantitative Analysis of the Effect of Organizational Structure on Software Engineering Management.
Abstract:
The effect of organizational structure on software engineering management has been quantified using graph models of the organizational flow of control and information. Values are assigned to each unit of information transmitted L and to each link formed B. The model is constrained by the maximum number of interfaces that an individual can handle effectively. Optimization of the organizational structure is achieved by minimizing the result of trade-offs between the Ls and the Bs.
