Abstract:

Comments were solicited from sonar system and cable manufacturers, Transducer Repair Facilities, Navy Laboratories, NAVSEA engineers, and private and Naval shipyards regarding the adequacy of Navy underwater cables in meeting existing and future Navy sonar system requirements. These inquiries have resulted in a number of recommended revisions to the underwater cable specifications detailed in MIL-C-915 as well as recommended additional cable designs to be incorporated in the subject specification.
