Airborne Radar Approach.
Abstract:
A flight test series investigating the airborne radar approach ARA for helicopters is discussed. Passive and active target enhancement methods and their relative merits are examined. A description of systems and methods involved in the ARA are presented along with subjective insights and conclusions. It is concluded that the ARA is a practical approach aid in the absence of conventional navigation aids NAVAIDs subject to certain limitations as discussed herein. Author
