Abstract:

Human and rabbit endogenous pyrogens bind to affinity columns of both Cibacron Blue agarose and its carboxymethyl derivative. All pyrogenic activity from both sources is recovered by eluting with a high salt concentration buffer. This affinity chromatographic step purified crude rabbit endogenous pyrogen 5-fold from 118 to 588 rat pyrogen dosesmg or gel filtered rabbit pyrogen 10-fold up to 5,820 rat pyrogen dosesmg. Author
