Deicing a Satellite Communication Antenna.
Abstract:
Ice buildup on communication antenna dishes begins to cause signal reception problems when the thickness exceeds 0.64 cm 0.25 in.. CRRELs copolymer coating, which reduces the adhesive force between ice and the coated surface, was tested on antenna dish panels to facilitate ice removal. A combination of the copolymer coating and heat proved to be an effective method of removing ice from the panel. Author
