Organophosphazenes. XIV. Para Substituted Aryl and Mixed Para Substituted Aryl/Phenyl Fluorocyclotriphosphazene Derivatives.

Abstract:

The reactions of aryl lithium reagents containing electron donating substituents in the para position with hexafluorocyclotriphosphazene, P3N3F6, have been examined. These reactions yield the appropriate monoaryl pentafluorocyclotriphosphazenes in moderate yields. The monoaryl phosphazenes are converted to the geminally substituted mixed arylphenyl derivatives by the Friedel-Crafts reaction. The infrared and nmr spectroscopic data along with the mass spectrometry data are discussed in terms of perturbations of the aryl system by both the phosphazene and electron donor substituents.
