Contamination of the Anode and Cathode in Phosphoric Acid Anodizing Electrolytes.

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA077885 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The surface analysis of anodes and cathodes from phosphoric acid electrolytes by ion scattering spectrometry ISS and secondary ion spectrometry SIMS shows that contamination can occur under a variety of conditions. Contamination can occur both during and after anodization and either with or without the electrodes connected. These results point up the dynamic and ever changing character of the anodization process and suggests reasons for poor reproducibility of oxide chemistry and morphology. Author
