The Regulation of Transportation -- An Analysis.
Abstract:
This thesis offers a general evaluation and analysis of the process of regulation as it applies to the transportation system in the United States. It traces the development of transportation regulation from its birth as an outgrowth of the Granger laws in the 1870s and 1880s to the present. An evaluation of the agencies responsible for enforcing, interpreting, and applying the regulatory process is included, as well as a discussion of the pros and cons of regulation versus deregulation. Finally, alternatives are offered relative to remedies available to the legislative process to improve current regulatory practices. Author
