Abstract:

This report provides introductory material on the aerodynamics, propulsion, and flight control for VSTOL aircraft. Certain basic aspects of VSTOL technology and hardware are outlined, and deficiencies in past VSTOL aircraft which adversely impact the pilots performance are discussed. The report is intended to provide background material on the human factors aspects of future VSTOL aircraft development.
