Summary of Development for LNG Tank Design Acceleration Rules.

Abstract:

Progress and results are offered from a two year research project devoted to LNG Liquid natural gas tank design guidelines. Five LNG tank vessels were examined ranging in capacities from 29,000 to 200,000 cu.m., including spherical and membrane tank systems. Extreme accelerations and motions are developed by applying short term statistics to hull responses predicted for severe sea conditions. Historical data from ocean areas serving LNG shipping routes provides the sea input.
