Seal Integrity of Selected Fuzes as Measured by Three Leak Test Methods

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: ADA032062 | Open PDF

Abstract:

Ten different types of fuzes were leak tested. Two nondestructive methods were used one employed commercial leak test equipment, while the other utilized internal pressurization of the fuze with the air-bubble indication. A third destructive type test, MIL STD 331, Test 108, required subsequent disassembly of the fuze and visual examination for evidence of moisture on the interior surfaces. The results of these tests indicate clearly those fuzes in which quality is poor and reveal where the problem lies. The results also show that the internal pressure-bubble indication test method is capable of detecting and locating leaks nondestructively.
