Abstract:

The Concurrent Photon Amplification CPA speed enhancement technique for low light level photography has been successfully adapted for use with three 3 Kodak color reversal films i.e. High Speed Ektachrome, Ektachrome-X and 2483. The speed gains achieved range from ten times for transparencies with good color saturation and resolution to more than 100 times with some loss of saturation and maximum resolution. Initial experiments concentrated on using the above transparency films alone using normal processing procedures. Subsequent experiments using negative color processing and several duplication phases were conducted in order to increase the color saturation of the CPA enhanced imagery. The required CPA lamps combination for the color reversal films was the same white blue and green combination as determined under a previous effort for color negative films. These lamps were installed in a Nikon F-2 camera. A battery packpower supply was also provided to power and control the individual lamps.
