Observations of Jupiter with a Hadamard Transform Spectrometer.

During the past two years, Cornell University has prepared for observations of Jupiter to determine spectral differences at different latitudes. A Hadamard transform spectrometer was modified to make it capable of simultaneously observing regions at 15 different latitudes, at a spectral resolving power of 1cm. 255 different spectral elements are simultaneously observed so that a spectral coverage approximately 2 micrometers is obtained for a single grating setting. It was initially proposed to obtain spectra across the entire 8 micrometer to 13 micrometer region, using this instrument. General advances in data reduction, in error analysis, and in atmospheric studies have been made. Three papers that appear as appendices to this report described much of the work accomplished in these domains.
