Distributed Computation Study.
Abstract:
Efficient access and utilization of a collection of computer systems interconnected by a communications network requires development of a Network Operating System NOS. By definition, an NOS, in analogy with a host operating system is intended to provide ease of user access to the collection of resources comprising the network and to support allocation of resources among multiple competing requests. This report summarizes the results of a study directed toward Identification of NOS objectives, Determination of constraints implicit in achieving these objectives, Description of an approach for NOS development.
