Abstract:

General introduction of acoustic emission testing is given. While little practical experience has been accumulated in many applications involving civil engineering structures, the potential of this technique in structural integrity assessment has been well demonstrated in aerospace and nuclear fields. Further developmental efforts should aid in realizing the full benefit of this method. Author
