Recycled Concrete as a Source of Aggregate.

Both earlier and recent research indicate that crushed old concrete will have higher absorption and yield concrete of lower strength at equal water-cement ratio and slump than concrete made with similar aggregate not previously used. Where the original concrete was of low resistance to frost action, concrete made using it as aggregate had improved frost resistance. It is concluded that recycling concrete for use as aggregate in new concrete is feasible and may become routine.
