Monitor Fast Pack (Type I) Shipping Environment.
Abstract:
The primary objectives of this study were to determine whether the drop heights used to develop Fast Pack selection curves and the shock levels displayed in these curves are realistic in relation to the actual conditions occurring during shipment through the logistics system. Secondary objectives involved investigation of the effect of package size and mode of transport on the level and frequency of occurrence of the shocks experienced. The results of the study indicated that 40 of the packs shipped received equivalent drop heights of 30 inches or more. It was determined that the Fast Pack selection curves are realistic in relation to actual shocks received during shipment. No significant correlation appears to exist between pack sizes tested, mode of travel, and the percentage of packs experiencing 30 inch drops or better. Author
