Abstract:

This report is intended for technical people, whose expertise is not in the thermonuclear fusion area, but want to gain some insight into the present state of the art. After an introduction into the problems of fusion research and technology the design, the goals and the operation schedule of JET Joint European Torus is described. Comparison to other Tokamak-type fusion devices is made.
