Abstract:

This report covers the development of hydraulically powered tools for both surface and underwater use in the installation and servicing of offshore tanker mooring and ship-to-shore offloading pipeline systems. The power unit is a gasoline-engine-powered hydraulic pump assembly mounted in a container which can be placed on the ground or in a small boat or floated on the surface of the water while in use. Two hydraulically powered winch-hoists are included for use during replacement of the hose on the seaward end of the ship-to-shore pipeline. Other components are a light-duty impact wrench, a hydraulic drill, a heavy-duty impact wrench, a disc-wheel grinder, and two cable cutters capable of cutting wire rope of up to 1 12-inch and 34 inch diameters, respectively. A pressure intensifier is also included to operate the larger of the two cable cutters provided.
