Abstract:

Three Category 3 ILS systems designated FAA Mark 3 ILS featuring wide aperture parabolic localizer antennae were developed, fabricated, and delivered for installation at Atlanta, GA. NAFEC, Atlantic City, N.J., and San Francisco, CA. A presentation of significant system requirements is followed by a general description of system design. Results of design studies, testing, installation, and field evaluation are furnished with a description of problems encountered and corrective action taken. In conclusion, the system is recommended as suitable for Cat 3 ILS operation.
