Development of a Wobble Plate Slurry Pump.
Abstract:
Conventional pumps are inappropriate for slurry transport because of the solids which wrap or accumulate into masses. If efficiency is to be maximized, pumps must be designed for unrestricted passage of the solids material they are to transport. The objectives of this research were to analytically predict the performance of a scaled up experimental wobble plate pump and compare this design with the performance of the experimental wobble shredder pump. An experimental analysis was made to determine the effect of changing the angle of the wobble plate and the capability of the pump to transport slurry material. A wobble shredder pump reported herein was designed to handle fibrous material and other solids. The research was undertaken especially to solve the problem of transporting sewage, cannery waste, pulp, packing plant waste, and liquid manure.
