Research on the Military Family: An Assessment,
Abstract:
Social and psychological studies conducted on military families during the past four decades were categorized and reviewed. The historical antecedents of family research in the military were critiqued. Research carried out on the military family were categorized mobility, child adjustment and development, adjustment to separation, family reunion and reintegration, adjustment to loss, families in transition, and services to families under stress. The limitation but importance of family research in the military is emphasized the study of the military family is an important approach to understanding and predicting performance, health and retention of military personnel.
