Abstract:

A concise description is given of the state-of-the art of laser deflectors. Types of deflectors discussed include mechanical-electromechanical mirror, acousto-optic, electro-optic, internal reflection, and fiber-optic scanners. Basic equations and data are given for most types. A projection is given for the state of the art in 1980. Several related topics and operational implications are also mentioned.
