Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to establish a unified analysis and development of new techniques to eliminate some of the redundancy in digital communication by using different implementations for the source endoder and decoder at the transmitter and receiver respectively. It is the intention to optimize the communication systems in terms of transmission rate, bandwidth requirements and quantization noise. This is accomplished by developing novel techniques that use nonuniform samples usually at one bit per sample transmitted at an average Nyquist rate and which are practically implementable.
