Abstract:
This report presents summaries of 111 projects completed, under way or in planning within the Naval Undersea Centers Ocean Technology Department as of January 1975. It comprises 17 chapters, each of which represents a significant aspect of the departments work, and is intended to demonstrate the scope of NUCs ocean engineering effort and provide specific examples of the Centers capabilities in this area. The projects described exemplify research, development, test or evaluation in the following areas remotely controlled underwater vehicles, manned submersibles with panoramic visibility, launch and recovery of submersibles, pressure-resistant hulls and materials, machine-mammal systems, diver equipment, salvage systems, undersea imaging, untethered deep-ocean buoys, stationary floating ocean platforms, and self-propelled ocean platforms.
