Abstract:

Two experimental apparatuses have been designed, constructed, and delivered to the Air Force Materials Laboratory. These apparatuses will be used to develop experimental data which can be used to devise accelerated life tests for bearings for mechanically despun antenna drive systems for Air Force communications satellites. The two apparatuses were designed for the purposes of studying lubricant torque variations and lubricant quantity in ball bearings operating in vacuum.
