The mission of the UH-1Y utility helicopter is to provide command, control and assault support under daynight and adverse weather conditions. Both the AH-1Z and UH-1Y aircraft incorporate state-of-the-artdesigns, which serve to improve capability, lethality, and survivability. Major modifications include a new four-bladed rotor system with semi-automatic blade fold of the new composite rotor blades, new performance matched transmissions, a new four-bladed tail rotor and drive system, upgraded landing gear, and pylon structural modifications.
