Methods for Calculating Magnus Forces on Slender Bodies of Revolution

Abstract:

Theories for predicting the Magnus force for slender, pointed bodies of revolution at small angle of attack and small spin rates are reviewed. A semi-empirical method for calculating CY,P is discussed and shown to be applicable to a variety of bodies and experimental situations.
